On Friday 20th November Year One visited the dinosaur galleries at The Natural History Museum. We came face to face with the Tyrannosaurus Rex and saw fossils of other carnivorous dinosaurs. We met ‘Dinosaur Dan’ who explained how fossils were made and everyone got to touch a real dinosaur bone. Thank you to all the mums and dads who helped on the day and well done to everyone for their patience on a very long journey back to school!

Using iPads to Encourage Learning Out Of School Return to List on: 03 Dec 2013 by: Karen Fleming

Karen Fleming, Head of ICT at Keble Preparatory School, London Borough of Enfield, discusses how the school is using iPads and the MediaCore video learning platform, to engage children and encourage learning outside the classroom.

Keble School is a boys’ preparatory school in North London. The school has always considered ICT to be important for the children’s learning as the boys find ICT more engaging and it helps them think outside the box.

Our students have commented that they find it easier to have all their work on one device. They are finding it easy to research information, come up with ideas or produce a piece of work after the lesson.

With this in mind, last year, we decided to introduce an iPad programme. The school already had laptops but the iPads could take it to [...]

Since becoming a ThinkBuzan Licensed Instructor, Steve has integrated his passion for Apple products with his accredited expertise in iMindMap.

“I have found that introducing them to tools such as iMindMap at a young age gives them the opportunity to develop key life skills such as independent research, critical thinking, and analytical skills.”

He has taught countless schools across the UK how to Mind Map on the iPad using iMindMap HD app. Here, he provides ThinkBuzan with an exclusive insight into three of the schools to which he has delivered training sessions.

Case Study 1: Keble Prep School for boys, North London, UK

Steve facilitated a session at Keble Prep School in which teachers used Mind Mapping for classroom tasks. During an English lesson, the teacher asked students to submit an iMindMap on a World War I poem, exploring the various themes, characters and attitudes by mind [...]

vlcsnap-2013-10-11-16h52m38s185Technology has always had a strong presence in the classroom at Keble School, a boys’ preparatory school in North London. Last year, with the help of iPad Academy, they introduced an iPad programme. This has led to some big changes in teaching and learning at Keble, from amazing student-led video projects to increased learning outside the classroom and a greater focus on project based learning. Keble staff and students use MediaCore to upload and share video from their iPads using the Capture app, including creating movie trailers for school events and class projects, which are then shared with other students and parents.

We’ve been inspired by what Keble are doing and worked with them to create this short video ( see link) to share their story and show how mobile technology and the use of video is changing the way that teaching and learning takes [...]
