Royal Geographical Society

On Tuesday 28th February, Mrs Brace was invited to speak at an event jointly hosted by the Royal Geographical Society and the Independent Association of Prep Schools. In the session she shared some of her approaches to model making. Model making is a creative and inspiring way in which to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of key geographical features and processes. Models engage; they help the boys to visualise the real world in a way that diagrams cannot.

At Keble, the boys are familiar with using plasticine, cardboard, polystyrene and other media to portray the physical and human world. The 50 attendees, all Heads and teachers of Geography from a range of London Prep schools, were also given the opportunity to impress Mrs Brace by making their own model, in cake, to show how caves, arches, stacks and stumps are formed. A fantastic event which put Keble on the geographical map.
